Through keynote speeches, interdisciplinary dialogues, and exchange sessions, participants will explore how design can respond to urban development, local initiatives, and future ways of living. The forum aims to foster local and international design exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration, inspire innovative thinking, and collectively envision the future development of Taoyuan.

Bringing together four leading urban design experts from Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, the Converging Futures · Taoyuan International Design Forum focuses on the interplay of design thinking, urban development and international exchange. The forum explores how design integrates into municipal governance, cultural evolution, and sustainability practices. Through Asian urban case studies and cross-disciplinary dialogues, the event illustrates how design shapes cities while opening up new visions for Taoyuan's future.

Building on the Taiwan Design Expo’s urban narrative of “Flow,” the initiative centers on the concept “Less Waste・More FLOOW” connecting the public sector with cross-industry partners to integrate waste reduction, carbon reduction, and air pollution control. Starting with everyday delivery services, it advances source reduction, low-carbon logistics, and circular collaboration, creating a new model for urban governance in Taoyuan.

Centered on the theme of "HARDCORE TAO PIE," Taoyuan Design Canteen partners with TransAsia Catering Services, CHINA PACIFIC CATERING SERVICES, Feastogether Corporation, DAXI TEA FACTORY, LINSON TEA, and HWANG RYH SHIANG CO., LTD. to create an immersive exhibition where aviation cuisine, local ingredients, tea culture, and regional flavors come together through design, food, and lifestyle experiences.

LUMA ARK is an ark carrying the agricultural memories of Taoyuan. It leads visitors through the city's agricultural landscapes, from plains and plateaus to hills and high-altitude mountain forests. Based on elevation and environmental characteristics, the exhibition is divided into four agricultural landscape gradients, presenting Taoyuan's abundant local specialties, along with the smart technologies and stories behind them. Together, they unfold an agricultural journey from the land toward the future.

Taoyuan Flow・Factory is curated around the concept of “Flow × Factory × Fashion,” bringing together the creative energy of Taoyuan’s tourism factories and local brands. The 2026 Taiwu Art Season transforms Taiwu New Village into a living cultural stage, connecting exhibitions, artist residencies, local collaborations, markets, and public programs. The Dayuan Jianshan Archaeological Exhibition Hall has organized a small-scale exhibition themed around “stone tools,” featuring several typical types of stone artifacts on display. Through observation and hands-on experiences, visitors are invited to explore how humans used “design thinking” to respond to everyday needs. This exhibition also features videos by the museum’s volunteers and expert scholars introducing their favorite stone tools, along with a voting and prize-drawing event that invites visitors to choose the stone tool they believe would have been the most practical to use. During the exhibition period, the museum will also host the “Shouldered Stone Axe DIY Activities” on September 26, where participants can create stone axe–shaped coasters using cork boards and experience the design thinking of prehistoric humans through hands-on activities.

Co-created by U-Theatre and Sangpuy, this work weaves together drumming, song, movement, and ritual to create a contemporary Taiwanese myth. U-Theatre’s profound physical discipline and art of drumming join with Sangpuy’s songs, inspired by the land, the mountains and forests, and the spirits of the ancestors, creating a shared journey through life that leads through myth and ritual toward rebirth.
