About

Creating Impact through Local Design and Urban Innovation

As technology rapidly evolves and societal values shift, a delicate balance emerges between the past and future, tradition and modernity, in both industry and daily life. Everything coexists harmoniously, yet not without its conflicts. With a human-centric approach, "design" acts as a vital mediator, connecting the uniqueness of cities with design expertise. By design, we redefine each location from multiple perspectives, and shape distinctive brand images for cities.

The core value of the "Taiwan Design Expo" is to elevate design aesthetics for everyone. By deeply integrating resources from industry, government, academia, and research, the Expo bridges industries, designers, the public, and government institutions, turning the entire city into a stage for showcasing beauty. Beyond grand visions, our aspiration is to ensure that the insights and inspiration from the exhibition continue to resonate in the host city, opening new doors of influence through designs.

Opening Up a Century of Changhua as "Fertile Ground," Designing a Blueprint for Changhua's Brilliant Future

Too often, we pass through Changhua in a hurry, unaware of all that we missed. Changhua is the beating heart of Taiwan's logistics, a center of agriculture, fisheries, livestock farming, and industry, rich with diverse industrial landscapes.

The 2025 Taiwan Design Expo is about to open in Changhua. It will utilize design thinking to transcend urban-rural boundaries and showcase a new narrative for Changhua, a vision that we call (((CHANGHUA))), through which this unique Taiwan region becomes fertile ground for social and cultural development as well.

Changhua is a strategic hub of development for Taiwan and a resource with a different global appeal; it is a port region characterized by resilience, wisdom, and determination. (((CHANGHUA))) will demonstrate how design can enter factories, integrate into daily life, and reimagine the future of local towns and special economic zones.

The 2025 Taiwan Design Expo will involve major townships and cities in Changhua, including Changhua City, Lukang Township, Tianwei Township, and Tianzhong Township, and will connect five districts, i.e., Zhongxing, the Changhua County Art Museum area, Guashan, the Lukang hub, and Tianwei.

(((CHANGHUA))) and its 14 thematic venues invite you to rediscover and experience Changhua, a place that will finally open up and showcase its treasures to the people of Taiwan and the world!

Key Visual Concept

The 2025 Taiwan Design Expo is themed “ (((CHANGHUA)))”, drawing inspiration from Changhua’s rich heritage of craftsmanship and creative energy. Rooted in the region’s cultural characteristics and spatial narratives, the theme develops a unique design language that reflects the local identity. The main visual centers on the character “Hang (行),” which conveys a sense of “inclusiveness,” transforming local industries, diverse trades, and a culture of tolerance into a contemporary visual symbol.

The character “Hang (行)” is deconstructed and reinterpreted as the symbol “((( )))”, forming a distinctive and memorable visual identity. This symbol represents connection, dialogue, communication, contextualization, and added value, allowing for multiple layers of interpretation. The primary color palette features gradients of teal-blue, orange-red, and gold, evoking imagery of Changhua’s coastline, natural landscape, and cultural hues. The secondary visuals extend from these core colors, comprising over a dozen semi-abstract geometric patterns. These elements rise from the bottom of the visual plane to complement the overall color scheme, with each symbolic shape imparting unique meaning to different exhibition areas.

The full visual identity spans the three main exhibition areas—Changhua, Lukang, and South Changhua. Through a carefully crafted combination of color and imagery, each region’s distinct qualities are highlighted. This visual narrative weaves together cultural elements and local geography, shaping a collective memory and cultural portrait of the region.

Key Visual Concept Video

Changhua serves as a vital transportation hub, connecting north and south while bridging east and west—truly the heart of circulation and movement. Much like a century-old trading firm, “Changhua Hang (行),” this year’s Taiwan Design Exhibition opens up the fertile grounds of Changhua. The identity animation incorporates many dynamic visual elements of “opening,” symbolizing the gateway that welcomes the public into the Taiwan Design Exhibition.

The exhibition uses gradient colors to represent the three major areas: Changhua, South Changhua and Lukang. These gradients evoke the coastal skyline imagery of Changhua, with the camera continually pushing toward the horizon, conveying a sense of “progress and forward movement.” It also echoes the roadside scenes of Tianwei highway garden, where blooming acres glide past the car windows—making it feel as if the animation takes you through every inch of Changhua’s land.

The symbolic motif “((( )))” in the animation opens up a rich space for imagination, signifying exchange, transmission, and inclusiveness. It also suggests the rhythms of the economy, swaying flowers, or rising incense smoke. Through the interplay of rhythm and visual motion, the identity animation deepens the viewer’s perception and emotional connection with the exhibition’s main visual identity.
