With over three centuries of history since its founding during the Qing Dynasty, Changhua boasts eleven national historical monuments, making it a vibrant cultural capital. Its urban areas, constrained by the train station and Baguashan plateau, is densely concentrated. While its streets might seem narrow and congested for modern traffic, they offer a wonderfully human-centric pedestrian experience, making the old city center ideal for leisurely tours and slow-paced appreciation. Furthermore, its close proximity to Baguashan allows for a unique eco-lifestyle experience, where visitors can easily transition from hill exploration to city immersion within a single day.
This project aims to integrate pedestrian flow with urban development in the Baguashan foothills. From an urban design perspective, we're establishing guidelines for the spatial design of pedestrian systems, landscaping, and water retention in Changhua City. Our goal is to elevate overall environmental quality and maintain consistency.
Through collaborative efforts from public space authorities, design professionals, and interdisciplinary experts, we are committed to substantially transforming Taiwan's urban living environments, and creating urban spaces that are friendly, livable, distinctive, and charming.
